Cecelia Heffernan is synonymous with flowers and all they encompass… beauty, grace boldness, mystery, excitement, comfort and happiness.
Over the years, Cecelia has turned passion of flowers, plants and gardening into a very successful business concept that is growing and growing. She is the CEO of Flower Hardware Inc., and the two current subsidiaries under the Flower Hardware umbrella. Cecelia is also a successful author and speaker on the lecture circuit and a high-profiled consultant.
Cecelia is an active, stylish and refreshing juxtaposition of small-town woman with a ‘big city’ sophisticated side. Her unique creative expertise derives from her Southern roots, her cosmopolitan experience in such cities as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and her current western influences in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Cecelia strives to produce that which is distinctive and unusual, yet simultaneously uncomplicated and practical. “I love offering the unexpected,” says Cecelia, “…hot pink cosmos in a bright red bucket, pale yellow roses mixed with black millet grass or my favorite combination of greens and browns such as apple green hosta leaves and cattails.” Cecelia believes simple and natural designs casually accent a room without overtaking it. “I want people to enjoy the beauty, texture and color of the flowers. I keep the combinations to a minimum but wow my clients with color and texture.”
As an entrepreneur, Cecelia owns and operates Flower Hardware (offering flowers, original antiques, artists’ wares, architectural artifacts, and other flower-related dëcor to the discerning consumer); and its subsidiaries Flower Works (the events and wedding division) and Garden Works (the landscaping division) of her corporation.
As an author, Cecelia has published the successful book, Flowers A-Z (Abrams), now available in English, French, and German. This beautiful book takes and in-depth look at individual flowers, how to |

care for them as well as simple arranging tips and more. The paperback version of Flowers A-Z was released in the spring of 2002 along with a line of note cards and journals. Cecelia’s latest book, Houseplants A-Z (Abrams) was released in the spring of 2006. The book provides the reader with a new appreciation for plants and their design uses in the home.
Firms and media outlets nationwide have sought Cecelia’s expertise and natural ability to connect with an audience. Her list of engagements includes appearances on Women’s Entertainment Network’s “Everyday Elegance” hosted by Colin Cowie. “The We She House” aired during the summer of 2003 on Women’s Entertainment and was a four-part series in which Cecelia served as the landscape designer. In addition, she has provided floral services for numerous Lifetime Network parties and evens such as the “Women That Rock” concerts, and nationwide gardening seminars for Lowe’s Home Stores.
Cecelia has been featured in a variety of publications such as Garden Design and House Beautiful, Martha Stewart Weddings, Country Living, Victoria, Cowboys and Indians and multiple newspapers nationwide. She has also been featured in books such as The Business of Bliss and Mountain Style.
Born in Georgia, Cecelia developed her love of plants and flowers while gardening with her mother. Cecelia moved to Jackson Hole after college, to enjoy the landscape and to explore the challenging terrain only a skier and outdoors enthusiast can appreciate. She started her floral and event design business at the age of 24, and quickly attained national recognition for her unique style and creative flair.
Cecelia’s style is unique… that of an old fashioned graceful southern girl with a fun retro western flair and a love for industrial contemporary design. According to Cecelia, “Style is style. It does not need a specific category. Mixing different looks, personalities and colors is just being creative. Polka dots and plaids can work together!”
Cecelia’s creativity with plants and flowers in the home and garden are novel and boundless. Her vision is to infuse a renewed passion for flowers and gardens into the lives of today’s active women, and to reintroduce the spirit of beauty for any occasion or for no specific occasion at all.
Cecelia is a refreshing creative force: an everyday active woman striving to bring beauty and style into her own life and the life of her clients, viewers, and readers. Cecelia currently lives in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. |
